My Mexican friend Ricardo told me to move out of my office. I was living in Santiago, Chile. A major part of my life had fractured. And yes – I was living in a corner room of the 2-story office. To be fair, it didn’t start out this way. I was renting a beautiful Spanish – style colonial house. The ground floor was my small 6-person consulting firm, and the second floor was my living space. Slowly, each room of the second floor was taken over by the business except for one small room where I slept.
So I bought myself a telescope and moved out. Los Crisantemos – chrysanthemums – was the name of the quiet tree-lined street of my top floor apartment. From my open-to-the-sky balcony, I aimed my telescope at the moon. La luna was soothing.
My Lunar Vessels take their inspiration from my observations of the moon. The vessels provide a canvas for carving designs that evoke feelings that soothe, bathe and stir.
